I'm a huge Mike & The Mad Dog fan, and Chris really went after Pacman Jones on this one, lol. I know it's months old, but it's still awesome.

I'm tired of the Pacman story. I really don't care what he does off the field. He isn't a role model. If you're a parent and you're scared of your kids looking up to him, talk to them. He's a great football player. Leave him alone unless he gets convicted and goes to jail.

My problem is not that he's a rolemodel. It's the image that the NFL projects when they have these thugs playing on their teams.

I'm just glad that the NFL was able to bully ESPN into canceling Playmakers. The NFL was right after all. That show did portray a totaly unrealistic view of the NFL.

Why do you care what image the NFL projects? And why does an NFL player's off-field problems change that? Does your personal life reflect on your employer?

Absolutely. Think about this: Your company's star sales person is arrested over the weekend for a double-shooting in a night club and his picture is plastered all over the news paper. On Monday morning do you send him out into the field to do house calls with his clients? No, you fire him so that you don't look like your company is staffed by gang-bangers. Same thing in the NFL, these guys have high profiles, and the NFL's customers (paying fans) may or may not care if the teams are staffed by gang-bangers. At this point it is a business decision, the NFL thinks the customers (fans) care, so they've taken action. It's their duty as a business to protect the image of the business. The vast majority of the value of Coca Cola is in the name. The NFL is protecting their name.

I couldn't listen to that, the guy sounded like he had Down's Syndrome.

Yet he's one of the top-rated radio guys in the NY area.
I figured as much, maybe it's just me. Ah well. :)
