One of my pressure washer bolts broke

SAWYER

Lifer
I had swapped a pump from one pressure washer to another and one of the bolts broke off in the threads. It is currently on and secured, I can use it but I was thinking of maybe using a tie down strap to secure it. Any other suggestions I might consider?

I would do my very best to get the broken bolt out and replace it. But if you can't get a grip on the shaft, and an EZ-out won't do it, I would probably just run it with 3 bolts. The cost of having a shop machine or EDM it out is probably prohibitive.

Can you post a pic so we can see where it's broken?

I feel your pain. I had a broken pulley on one my mower's mandrels, and was removing the other one for reference. I ended up shearing three bolts between the two mandrels, and had to replace the "good" one because the two broken bolts were simply NOT coming out (PBBlaster, multiple heat/cool cycles, easy out, etc.). I've never had bolts so stuck on any application before. It's not even the extra $45 for the mandrel that sucks - I had to push mow 2 acres two straight weeks.

If 3/4 are good, I might chance it (NOT something I'd do with the mandrel). You should be able to tell how well it will work by the amount of vibration it has.
