One of my former teachers died recently, and I just found out that his funeral is today. Let's all think about him and his family in our prayers today.

"Richard A. Cuppy , 54, of Mesa Arizona, passed away September 25, 2002. Visitation Saturday, September 28th, 12 noon-2pm with Service following at 2pm, St. Bridget Catholic Church, 2213 N. Lindsay Road, Mesa. Contributions to Richard Cuppy Children Memorial Fund c/o 108 N. 56th Street, Mesa Arizona 85205.

Richard Alan Cuppy, beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend and teacher passed away on September 25, 2002 in Mesa, Arizona. Richard, son of Frank and Eleanor Cuppy, was born on February 13, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan. Richard was deeply loved by his wife, Loren, and his children, Julie, Jeff, Ashley, Zachary, and Emily and his grandchildren Dylan and Brittany. Family and friends will miss him dearly. We all cherish our memories of Richard and through these memories he lives on. He also lives on through the many students he taught, touched, and influenced. When do ripples on a pond stop? How can they be measured? He pursued teaching with the same deep devotion and passion he gave to everything he did in life --- WAUGH SAYS I!!! Visitation for friends will be from Noon to 2 P.M. on Saturday, September 28, 2002 at the St. Bridget Catholic Church in Mesa at 2213 North Lindsey followed by a mass to celebrate Richard's life. A reception will follow in the Church's social hall. A friend asks, "Richard, was it worth the trouble?" to which he would reply, "Trouble? What trouble?""

That is sad. When I was in high school my biology teacher died from leukemia halfway through the year. He was one of the best teachers anyone could ask for.
