🙁

Been looking crook recently, but i did a water change a few nights ago and i honestly thought he was looking a lot better, then i turned on the light this evening and he was belly up on the bottom 🙁 He got flushed just now 🙁

The other big bala shark is as hale & hearty as ever thankfully 🙂

How big/old was he? Balas should live 5-7 years or even longer.

tiny & very young 🙁

He had a red dorsal fin and had been swimming with it down for the past few days, and i noticed last night that his scales around his dorsal fin were kinda less shiny than on the rest of him...

He was the last of a batch at my local shop, and they've had significant fatalities recently, so maybe he was carrying something from that tank? 🙁

I would watch your tank closely and be prepared to buy and administer a disease treatment. You might want to go ahead and do this anyway, just as a preventative measure. My experience is that when one fish dies, the whole tank may be in danger, usually from a disease/parasite.

i will, it would be very sad to lose my big bala shark, Cecil 🙁

My housemate got a couple of Balas. Then found out exactly how big they can get. After 2 months, he had to take them back to the pet store. He has something like a 25 gallon aquarium. He had about 6 or 7 other fish and the 2 Balas...

Do you need a dorsal fin to cry on?

Or do you need a nice shell to climb into?

i begin to see why you piss people off mate 😛

:frown: Oh well, good luck with your fishies.

BTW: Why didn't you eat him? You said that you flushed him, down the toilet I assume, right? If that's the case, then it stems two questions:

A. What direction does your crapper turn in?
B. How big was the fishie, and did he have any meat on his cartilage? This also stems another two questions.
1. Why didn't you rip out his jaws and put them on your computer?
2. How much does a set of Bala jaws run for?

😀

EDIT: Not trying to piss you off mate, although my post does sound very sarcastic-like.

you made me chuckle, so i forgive you 🙂

I have a 30 Gallon Tank. Is this big enough for a couple of Bala Sharks? I read that they get kinda large.

** I just read on a googled site that you can start them out in a 30 Gallon tank, but once they get larger that a 75 Gallon is recommended. Doubt I'll get any. They sound like cool fish though.

easy.

they take a while to grow, and even then, 30g should be fine.

My big one stopped growing in the smaller tank, then started again when i moved him over...
