Greetings Guys.

I'm building my first PC, and are now conectind the different components. And the first problem has arisen. The main power cable for the motherboard doesnt seem to fit.

I got a seasonic snow silent 1050w modular powersuply, And Asus ROG rampage 10th Anniversary edition motherboard. And the powercable to connect them, got the classical 24 pin connector, and connected to it there is another 10 pin connector that I presume it should go on the power slot near the cpu. Problem is that this slot is eight pins only.

The 10 pin connectors fits on the 8pin slot, leaving the 2 pins on one side in the air, but i fear the pin layout might be different and end toasting the motherboard.

Any help pls?

edit apparently I read the post hastily, better answers below.

You're trying to insert the PCIe cable (below) into the CPU connector, that's why it doesn't fit.

The CPU cable looks like this:

Greetings lehtv.

Many thanks for the time and effort of uploading those pics, I should have done the same to avoid misunderstandings. Let me show you a pic of the cable.

I have labeled the connectors, #1 goes to a slot in the modular powersource, #2 is the standard ATX 24 pin connector that goes in the ussual socket in the motherboard, and 3 is a 10 pin connector that I had never seen before, you can see them better in this pic:

..... Where 1 is the 24 pin standard and 2 is our unknown 10 pins friend. Now I presume that this connector should go in the motherboard slot near the cpu, but problem is that the cpu
connector is 8 pins only, as you can see in the pic below:

Well the 10 pin connector, fits perfectly in the 8 pin slot if I leave 2 pins on the air, but I have also noticed that the powersource have a 10 pin slot , it may be that the 10 pin connector goes in the powersource too? please check this pic:

Well What you think guys?

I can't even really fault you not knowing how the cable worked. Seasonic makes great PSUs, but I downloaded the user manual for your unit, and it is really, really basic and not helpful at all. I had never seen a PSU cable designed like that either, so that might be something they might want to explain in the user manual.

Hopefully the rest of your build goes smoother. ;)

hopefully :D btw maybe you could help with another problem that just showed up. I need to connect 3 usb 2.0 cables (I mean the motherboard cable, not the usb connector) , one from a corsair commander mini, another from an audio module that came with the motherboard and another from the case, but the motherboard only have one USB 2.0 slot. Maube they sell some sort of USB splitter or something like that I could buy to solve the problem?

Negative, An usb 2.0 slot got 9 (10) pins while the usb 3.0 connector got more pins, it wont fit. and the usb 3.0 are also taken for other computer parts. Anyway I just found the stuff I need, here is the thingie:

So this time I Auto-Answered myself :relaxed:. Many thanks for the interest anyway my friend.
