Just finished reading One Nation Under Therapy by Christina Hoff Sommers and Sally Satel, and I was duly impressed.
The book seeks out to debunk many of the ideas in our popular culture about self-esteem, trauma and therapy. It covers topics ranging from non-competitive curricula in schools to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The second half of the book is a bit dry and repetitive, and the authors can be self-serving at times, but overall I enjoyed the book greatly and found the attitudes refreshing. Definitely recommended for those who enjoy viewpoints that fall out of the mainstream perspective.
