Nik,
ATTBI had me shuffling for over 10 days to do a simple transfer of service, they then sent installers to the place I moved out of instead of my newplace, after all that they tell me my new place isn't servicable for broadband when they'd told me it was when I arranged the transfer .. RCN is Attbi's competitor cable company here in MA
First of all, they should have checked the new address in "SALCA" before doing the ToS. That's a difinitive answer as far as serviceablity. Secondly, in a ToS, the modem from the old address has to be returned. That modem is tied to the old account and, when you move, the old account will be closed and a new account built for you (new account number) at the new address. Since the modem is tied to the old account, they'll issue you a new one while their slow-as-snot system releases the modem from the old account to be used with someone else's.
That means the installers drop by the old house and pick up the modem if you don't tell them that you're going to drop it off at a payment center.

Then, when you get in the new place, you'll get a basic install again and have to go through like a new customer.
So, yes, I can see why you wanted a new service. I hope your speed caps are higher with RCN!
