One more inane 2K ?. Does the OEM version come with the 4 boot floppies, or is the CD bootable?

Wait a minute...don't you have to load the generic CDR drivers first? I could use my 98 bootdisk. Please tell me. Thanks.

Your BIOS should support booting directly from a CD-ROM. Just slip the CD in, make sure the CD is set as the first boot option, and go!

The OEM version should be bootable. If you have problems booting, use the makeboot/makebt32 utility on the CD to create the necessary boot flooppies or use a 98 bootdisk and run i386\winnt.exe on the CD.

Wow, snazzy! Bootable CDRom...what'll they think of next! Cool. Thanks for the zippy replies. I'm on a "y" quest today; snazzy, zippy, pippy, etc. Don't ask why...I've no idea. I had Polish Sausage w/tons of onions for lunch. Onions weird me out. Craz[y], no? :D Later, guys.

Um, bootable cd-roms have been around for 4 or 5 years now.

Well, I knew about "auto start", but I thought that B4 you could boot from a CDR, you had to have CDR drivers installed first, else the CD wouldn't start spinning to boot from the CDR. Whew, what a mouthful! I guess I didn't know. Never loaded W2K B4. Used it at work for about 3 months, but then changed jobs, now I"m on NT. Boooorrrring. The SA's have us locked out of everything. Can't change a darn thing. These boxes (Dell Optiplex GX110's) arent't bad. They even come with a 16mb TnT videocard. The drivers are antiquated though. I tried to see if I could put the latest Dets on there...locked out. Darn SAs! :p
