Our personal security is a function of the quality and types of people who surround us to a very significant degree. Would not, therefore, the proper role of government be to insure the sanity of the population? And wouldn't this mean that the bulk of resources be devoted to the study of psychology and the understand and elucidation of the nature of the human mind so that we can best and most wisely promote the mental health of our citizenry? What social ill do you see that is not in good part a result of the fact that people are mentally ill and maladaptive?

Widespread mental health would mean the end of this forum as we know it.

Bombing foreigners is much better for the national psyche than any bleeding heart psychology. After witnessing the horrors of 9/11, our nation needed to see some blood shed in retribution. There were no cameras on the ground in Afghanistan, and not many big buildings to hit, so that was insufficient.

The live televised feature presentation of Shock n' Awe in Baghdad provided lots of booms and big explosions, which served as a therapeutic session of healing through vengence.

eh, watch American Psycho

supposedly 25% of americans have some form of mental illness. its probably the stress of living in such an advanced and complicated society, because it cant be predominantly genetics as other countries (3rd world) have mental illness around 2%

although that might be because the ppl in those countries starve to death, or die of AIDs or malaria before they can ever develop or diagnose mental illness
