one gamertag, multiple consoles - anyway to get around recovery?

long story short, i have 1 360 in the living room, and one in my room.

I normally just play online in the living room, but will prob start playing in my room as well now once mw3 comes out.

Is there anyway i can just sign in on my xbl name without having to recover everytime? Ive considred using a flash drive and putting my profile on there, but then it still needs to register with the console right?

if anyone has any experience lmk what you did.
 
Put your gamertag on a flash drive. Works fine, no recovering. Any content registered to that gamertag will be available on either Xbox, you'll just have to download it twice.

Keep your game saves on the flash drive as well so you can continue progress from one console to the other.
 
Yup, I do the same thing with 2 xboxes. You're not really supposed to keep recovering your gamertag according to Microsoft. That's not what it's for.
 
the fall/winter update will support signing in to any xbox with your gamertag...should be awesome.
