So I finally completed my contract with AT&T Wireless.

Called them up 1 day after the expiration of the contract & cancelled.

Got the bill 2 weeks ago, noticed a huge early termination fee.

Called CS, they agreed to fix it.

Look @ my online bill today, still not fixed.

Call, talk to 6 freaking people, finally I lost it.

"Look, here's the deal, I can prove through your records on my phone that I called customer service & cancelled 1 day after the contract expired & cancelled my service, you need to take the charge off; or my bill, record of calls, and credit card bill all go to the FCC & you're going to incurr a massive fine for this."

They put me on hold for 10 minutes, come back on & caved.:D

& I could imagine the headache of a billing dispute with the new company, "Sir, our databases aren't fully transferred yet, how about you pay the bill or we'll put it on your credit history?"

I really never had any problems with the service, just their billing dept, the errors happened too frequently & were too always in their favor.

Typical AT&T CS call for me took a minimum of 45 minutes, today was 1.5 hours out of my life.

T-Mobile is ~7 minutes tops.

Couldn't stand the thought of them ripping me off for $175 early termination fee:|

The Cingular merger probably won't help this much either. I have Cingular right now and have had a number of bad experiences with their customer service. The only reason I stay with them is I think they have better deals on phones and phone upgrades than the other providers.

LOL, the poor idiots @ AT&T still have my bill wrong, just got an email about my new bill. I'm thinking WTF, I paid the damn thing in full, log onto my account & see:

Description Amount

Subscriber Adjustments -175.00

Monthly Service 0.00

Monthly Usage 0.00

Charges 0.00

Credits 0.00

Taxes, Surcharges and Regulatory Fees -29.86

Total Monthly Charges as of 10/03/04 -204.86

Ending Balance as of 10/03/04 -29.86

Wonder if they'll issue me a credit?

I paid them in full minus the disconnect fee they tried to charge me. It's the first time in ~4 years they've made an error in my favor, I'm sure not going to spend an hour on the phone to help them fix their billing:evil:

You really have to show customer support you mean business. They will pass you around like a cheap whore if you don't let them know how it's going to be from the beginning.
