One Display to Rule Them All

Hi Everyone,

I am looking at a display (DLP, LCD, Rear Projection, etc) to use for TV (from a digital cable box), DVD viewing, and for my PC Gaming. I like to play at 1280 x 1024 or 1600 x 1200, but I know those resolutions are not really available for TV's. Would a 1280 x 720p wide-screen display work with the latest games (D3, HL2, UT2K4, etc.)?

If not, what would you recommend for around $3000? (give or take)

Thanks!!

The Apple website mentions a GeForce 6800 Ultra "DDL" version for G5's as a requirement for this display. Does this apply to the PC as well? What video cards will work on that display?

Thanks again everyone!

how about a dell 26" widescreen lcd monitor/hdtv? they are selling for about $1500 right now from their website and don't require any special graphics card. it has a lot of nice features to boot.

yeah i believe the apple cinema view requires a vid card that has two dvi outs since 30" is a lot of real estate. Esentially it's treated as two monitors rather than one. Unfortunately I believe this cuts down on the ability to maintain high refresh rates. So I don't think you'll be doing any fast pace games (Doom 3, HL 2 etc) on a cinemaview. Maybe if you were an RTS gamer that'd bd fine.
