I've done the concoction(sp?) a few times and don't really see the point. It did nothing to me so I don't waste my money anymore.

I recommend easing into it. Order it on the rocks with a water back. That will give you a little relief from the high alcohol shock while your pallet gets used to the aromatics. Just figure out if you want to drink single malt or blended. Most real drinkers like the single malt, but the blended may be easier for you to handle. The article goes into detail about which regions give you the different flavors...much like wine. Check it out.

You also can't go wrong with Glenlivet 12yr - $23.99 750ml though I find it a bit rougher than the above two.

I'm more into the Islay scotches myself. Lagavulin is a personal fav, and Bowmore is excellent as well. They're much smokier than Highland scotches I find, especially Lagavulin. Both $69.99 though...
