Bastard.

Lawrence Russell Brewer, who was executed Wednesday for the hate crime slaying of James Byrd Jr. more than a decade ago, asked for two chicken fried steaks, a triple-meat bacon cheeseburger, fried okra, a pound of barbecue, three fajitas, a meat lover's pizza, a pint of ice cream and a slab of peanut butter fudge with crushed peanuts. Prison officials said Brewer didn't eat any of it.
Within hours, Livingston said the senator's concerns were valid and the practice of allowing death row offenders to choose their final meal was history.

Bet the rest of the guys want to kill him.

Oh, wait.....

how do we know that the warden didn't take the food and eat it? Brewer could've been like 'C'mon man, that was for me'. and the warden just said stfu and ate it all? dead men tell no tales

True. He may not have even ordered it. It may be just a ploy by the system to save some $$ on last meals. Whose the bastard now?

The idea of a last meal always seemed kind of retarded to me. If you're going to be dead in 15 minutes who gives a shit if you had a tasty meal?

Did texas really need another reason to suck? I hope someone organizes a way to donate to support last meals, though Texas will probably deny that too. Scumbags

I don't really understand why anyone sentenced to death for their crimes deserves anything except a bullet in their head.

I'm not sure I share the same definition of "scumbag" as you. Mine includes those convicted of chaining a man to their truck and dragging him to his death - you know, thereby denying him any choice in a last meal himself.

I don't really feel strongly either way on this issue, but I'm not one to lose sleep over denying a convicted murderer any of the creature comforts available to functioning members of society.

I agree.

Nope. They deserve an execution the same way as how their victim(s) died.

I both agree and disagree. It would probably stop some of the viscious crimes that happen, but at the same time, it definitely will not stop them all, and someone who is not a deranged killer would have to walk the deranged killer's path. What normal, functional human being would be willing to drive the truck to kill that colossal a-hole? I'd imagine it would be quite mentally scarring, regardless of the reason why it's being done.
