Once upon a time, what did you want to be when you grew up? (and did you end up doing just that?)

Title pretty much sums it up....

I grew up wanting to teach history. I ended up spending over 10 years in the Army being a gun bunny, and now work in the brokerage industry. Life works in mysterious ways it seems....

In high school, I wanted to write screenplays or be a musician. Still thinking about it, but haven't come up with many ideas that I'm really proud of. Right now I'm pre-law.

Wanted to be a pastor or a radio DJ. Haven't even come close to either one, except that I go to church on Sundays and listen to the radio on the way to and from work! ;)

Too bad that I didn't dream about being a spec writer in the roof deck industry, I'd have my dream job.

I joined the Army. I still have time to decide what I want to do when I grow up.:Q

Actually, I went into a completely different route than what my parents wanted me to do. I was groomed to go into law and public administration.

I ended up dropping out of college and becoming a Hotel Auditor/Bookkeeper and then Manager for a major hotel chain. Accounting was my weakest and least favorite subject in high school. As soon as I got out of the Utopia world of high school accounting and into the real world, I enjoyed almost every aspect of my jobs in the hotel. I went into the Army because it paid a bit better. When I get out of the Army, I plan/dream on going after my law degree, but I'll probably never be a lawyer. I've decided on looking into the numerous job offers I've gotten with Best Buy Corp. HQ or go back to Hotel Management.

I wanted to be a lawyer, then a teacher. Wound up being a cook, custodian, and now a computer tech. I went to one of the local coleges and took one of those huge career evaluations, found out that I would be best suited for a job in the ministry. Go figure. :)

I wanted to be a writer when I grew up. Spent 10 years working in retail before I got back into it...then did retail for another 8 years while I was writing...and now I am writing full time.

Thought I was lucky...till someone told me that luck was when preparation meets opportunity...

How do I go about that?

Take a class/seminar at a college on careers. Most of those are based on a Myers-Briggs test (which can be found online)

There is a very noble calling. You don't have to be ordained to do good work for the Lord though, or even just helping your fellow man. :)

Well, I wanted to be lots of things from rancher to lawyer.
And at times a bum:p

I have this great urge to quit my job before lining up a new one so there's still hope on that last one;)

I wanted to be Doctor Doolittle or James Herriot, the veterinarian. I screwed up by having a kid at 19, though.... it made vet school pretty much an impossibility (the only one in my state is about 200 miles from my home and family).

I did become a veterinary assistant and a wildlife rehabber, though. I take in strays when they cross my path and try to find them homes.

I never really planned on being a housewife/mother but in the end I do feel like what I am doing with my life IS the best thing for my entire family.

When I was a kid, I wanted to be a scientist. Turns out that isn't a job.

Now, I'm at college and undecided on my major. It's fun!

When I was little I wanted to have a family and be a nurse. However the sight of gushing blood changed the career to wanting to be a teacher:p. I've always enjoyed being with kids.
I got my degree in Elementary Education and currently I'm a stay-at-home mom.

I've wanted to do many things, like become President of the USA, be a test pilot, writer, musician, or a professional soldier. Now I am in college at the rip age of 20, play music for fun and am in Air Force ROTC, hoping to become an intelligence officer (uh oh ;) ).

I'm still far too young to tell where my life will travel. I just want to be happy, that's all I guess.

I've wanted to do work with Computers, that's what I do and I'm happy with it. As far as pipe-dream types of things from my youth, I always wanted to be a hitman, or at least a sniper. :D

well it seems that all my goals in life have come to an end.

When i was really young, i wanted to be an Architect, that didn't happen.

Then I wanted to be a Physcologist, again, that didn't happen

Then I wanted to become a Computer Engineer, that too is failing and I'm changing majors... to what? i don't even know.

Now I want to become a Web Developer, and thats is still in its process.

danny~!
