Once the DNA reconstruction business is proven, should we resurrect Jesus?

I wonder if Jesus would try the whole sermon on the mount thing again or just post a video on youtube.

It's not like it would be the same person. It would just be a clone of him. Just another smelly bearded dude from the middle east.

One cult leader to rule them all. It'll be like Game of Cult Leaders. Let's bring back who bunch of cult founders like Confucius, Muhammad, Buddha, etc, and have them duke it out so we can have just 1 religion instead of thousands of cults.

Dude, you leave Confucius out of this, he was just a teacher. I bet you think Socrates is a cult leader too, right?

I recall reading a novel with this very premise.

Cloned Jesus ended up being the anti-Christ and ushered in the end of days...

Maybe we shouldn't clone Jesus after all.

Seeing as how memories aren't carried in DNA, I don't see that it would do much good. Unless of course you believe he's the son of God, in which case, if you get his DNA, you could clone God. That'd be sweet. "Who's you NOW?!"

Wasn't he already resurrected?

Technically, it would be a clone of Jesus anyway. We could make an army of him.

Should be on the Shroud of Turin, right? Christians will positively shit when they find out he wasn't a 6 foot white guy in Birkenstocks who looked like Ted Nugent.
We could clone Ted Nugent instead. An army of Ted Nugents. An army of Ted Nugents vs an army of Jesii!

Even Jesus wouldn't be able to knock any sense into Christians, so what would be the point?

It would ruin the catholic church for sure.

Imagine people seeing Jesus as a 'man', instead of knowing him through the Bible as the son of God. It's not like he'd have wings and a halo.

It could also ruin all these self-righteous people who pretend they know what God wants, and use scripture to their advantage (TV evangelists, powerful ministers/priests of rural or 3rd world countries, etc), if Jesus stepped in said 'wtf noob'.

Sounds like a win/win to me, lets do it.

Nah. Outside of religious texts made a few hundred years after the fact, there aren't many (any?) records of Jesus' life or existence so proving the genetic material is his would be impossible. It would be just one more pointless debate and media circus distracting public discourse from the things that really matter.
