If "yes" would it matter which party was running him, or would you select him if an independent?

I don't know much about him. But I presume he has some financial acumen, which would be nice for a change. I understand from the Libs around here he is anti-illegal immigration so IMO that's a good start.

No matter which party he ran for, I'd still check him out.

I like Lou Dobbs. He seems to know what this country's problems are, but whether he has any workable solutions is another matter.

Dobbs is great at complaining but I don't think he has what it takes to bring people together to hammer out solutions to the problems. It's almost like it's his opinion or nothing and he's too stubborn to compromise.

I was interested to see him marketed as a center/right choice, almost like he could take a Republican ticket. He's all about strong public schools and i believe healthcare, very protectionist regarding the borders and trade but seems to support US involvement in international issues. I think he's socially progressive. Correct me if I am wrong on any of those items but there is no way he would rally the base of the Republican party or get the nomination with those beliefs/principles.

I heard him interviewed in March of 2006, he sounded rational, he would be a good shot in the arm for the republican party.

Far better than Palin, who would drive the party further toward the extremist religious nuts.

Hey, if Lou Dobbs is over the constitutional age of 35, and is a US citizen, why should not he have a right to run for the Presidency of the USA. I can say the same thing about Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich, Mitch McConnell, Fred Thompson, Dick Armey, and so many more GOP members. Why should any of those otherwise qualified candidates delimited them selves by the constrain that the GOP can only bestow the GOP nomination of one and only one of them.

So I propose they all run for President in the general election of 2012 and thus avoid all those divisive GOP primaries in the process.
