If I had highspeed wireless in my car I suppose I could figure out a way to get my radio computer thing to just tune into an internet radio station someplace after I hook up a laptop to it...

Digital FM is coming up; rollout has already started.
It is able to co-exist with current broadcast equipment.

Satellite radio will die within a few years, I think..or at least 1 of the companies will reorganize or evaporate.

As far as mass wireless is concerned, the logistics don't make sense.
- Who pays for bandwidth?
- What protocol would be used (All iterations of WiFi aren't robust enough to tolerate the range/load)
- Who pays for equipment rollout and upkeep?

I don't think omnipresent wireless will be possible unless a new technology is developed expressly for that. Currently the closest thing is mMode/Vision/etc.. but those are proprietary signals which don't have adequate deployment or reliability.
