If he was such a great pitcher why did he only pitch for 4 seasons?? WHY?? because as any moron knows and every day player that hits 30 to 40 HR / season is a LOT more valuable than a decent pitcher. Now if he were a randy johnson or roger clemens mb i think twice but if he's ONLY a tommy glavine (good pitcher btw) or Steve Traschel and i see that this guy hits 30 to 40 hrs a season do you think he'll EVER PITCH as a starter AGAIN??

NO FVCKING way, so STFU with the Babe had 94 wins and pitched at a 2.3 era. IT'S NOT RELEVANT because EVERYONE knew he was more valuable as a hitter than as a Pitcher and he wasn't even a good fielder.

Look, there may not have been the same kind of talent at the top back then that there is now but there were also about half as many teams back then as there is now.

These kind of arguments never make any sense because it is impossible to compare way back then and now. Different players, different number of teams, different style of game, etc.

I will say this, in his time, Babe Ruth dominated the game. He lead the league in slugging, on-base percentage, etc. Plus, he did it all while smoking, drinking, and womanizing. He's got to get points for that.

that's fine, i agree he was a tremendous athlete, but saying that he pitched well soo many games adds NOTHING to what his offensive statistics show.
