A few days ago I made a post about a TERRIBLE car crash that I saw the aftermath of on my way home.

Today I spoke with someone that knew most of the people that were involved and he told me what happened, and what is NOW happening regarding the insurance companies of the parties involved.

It seems there were two guys in different cars that had been drinking together at a local bar and they were more or less driving together, going, according to police estimates around 95 miles an hour down the freeway. One lost control after crossing over an overpass, crossed the median and took out two other cars, more or less head on. The driver of the car that caused the wreck was killed outright (Cut in half as I understand) while three people in one of the other cars sustained injuries that would eventually kill them as well. One was a boy 4 years old, another was his mother and a third was another family member. They all died within 2 days of the crash. :(

Now comes the REAL sh!tty part! (As if THAT weren't bad enough!) The lawyers have stepped in!

Apparently when the car crossed the median it was sliding sideways and when the two cars collided the car that held the woman and her 4 year old and etc. hit the other car in it's side and NOT head on. Now the lawyer from the drunk guys insurance company says that since HER car "T Boned" his car ( HITTING IT IN THE side AND NOT HEAD ON ) they are BOTH EQUALLY AT FAULT!

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE FVCKING KIDDING ME!!!!

How can scumbag P.O.S.'s like that SLEEP at night!!!?  :disgust:

Arent lawyers hired to take their clients "side"? If they can effectively argue their point, then theyve done what they were supposed to do. Otherwise, it will be tossed.

No judge will agree with that, one car was traveling perpendicular to the flow and legal direction of traffic. That car is clearly at fault. It's probably the lawyer's crazy notion to snag a client or impress someone.

Lets hope the judge gets off his ass, approach the said lawyer, look him in the eye, slap the sh!t out of him, bitch style, then go back to his seat.

Yes, most lawyers are indeed scumbags...but it sounds like this one is just doing his/her job, and trying to get the client taken care of with as little liability as possible...just what they get paid for...like it or not...

I think there is a surgical procedure that all third year law students undergo to remove their souls.

That having been said, I'm glad I decided not to go to law school. I like seeing my reflection in the mirror.

Exactly. It's the judge and/or jury's job to decide if the lawyer's arguments hold merit; the lawyer is there to represent the client to the best of his/her ability, within the constraints of the law.

He's being a zealous advocate...he's doing his job...someone has to defend the Insurance Co. If you don't like the system, move to New Zealand.

I'm a 2L, by the way.

This accident constitutes as reckless though.

The lawyer's job is not to decide the guilt or innocence of parties involved. The lawyer, ethically, is bound to provide his client the best counsel he can. The guilt or innocence is determined by a jury, not by the lawyer.

A guy walks into a bar.

Bartender looks at him and sees that hes real glum. He says " Hey buddy, you look upset, whats wrong?"

The guy says: " You know what man, All lawyers are asssholes"

Another guy at the back of the bar says "Hey I resent that!"

Bartender goes: "Why are you a lawyer?"

2nd guy says: "No, Im an asshole!"
