and we're all still here, can we just make end of the world prediction punishable by death?

It's really starting to grind my gears. Y2K, Camping's Raptor, 2012 Mayan calendar, just to name a few. I'm sure 2012 won't even be over before the next date starts gaining popularity. :'(

I like Adam Corolla's solution. You want to predict the end of the world? Fine, but if you do, someone gets to strap you down into a chair and point a loaded shotgun on a timer at you. We'll give you an hour or so after the date you predicted, and then the timer goes off and the trigger pulls.

Everyone who predicts the end of the world is absolutely convinced that they are correct, so they should be fine with this right? I mean, the shotgun should never get the chance to fire if the world ends and you're dead either way. Even so, I bet that this cuts out a significant portion of end of the world predictions.

Due to the struggling economy, this being an election and leap year. The end of world in 2012 has been postponed indefinitely. Sorry for any inconveniences.

I think people should tatoo the dates that they predict the world will end to their forehead.
