It's just a confusingly similar name for the motherboard chipset, the chipset does not have onboard graphics at all, let alone the graphics of a Radeon X1600.

You need a graphics card.

Are you sure you want crossfire rather than SLI (or neither)? We don't know yet whether the R600 is better than nvidia's DX10 GPUs, and there is no good reason for a crossfire setup with the current DX9 Radeons instead of buying an 8800GTX.

its for a low end build for a friend. if that mb were to have onboard x1600 i would be able to save on the video card

Look at the nvidia 6100 & 6150 motherboards, the onboard video is decent if no gaming power is needed.
