I am looking into getting the ASUS p5k Deluxe mobo which has a built in Wifi card. The cable modem in our house is in the computer room but I'd like to move my new comp to a different room so the Wifi would come in handy. Question is does it work well or is it more of a gimmick? Does anyone have experience with either this mobo's Wifi or other built in Wifi cards? Range shouldn't be too much of an issue as I will only be about 15 ft from the router, but speed, efficiency, stability and quality of signal worry me.

Most WiFi rigs should run like a champ at 15ft if there is no nearby interference. The orientation (polarization) of the antenna can significantly affect performance because we are working with a microwave signal. Try channel 3, 9, or 11 if you encounter nearby interference.

Thanks for the suggestion. I know for a fact that there is at least one other network in range but the signal quality of that one is usually minimul. Also I have a good router Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 with DD-WRT installed.
