What is wrong?
I have an Aopen AK72 motherboard
Quantum Fireball, 10.2 gb
PalitMicrosystems Geforce 2Pro 64mb
Plextor 48/24/48A
Teac 32x CDROM

An option is to update the bios but I don´t know how to acces puredos-mode (I run WINXP Pro), which is necessary to update it.

sounds like an interference problem and not a bios one. This could be caused by quite a few things especially when using slightly older kit.

my notebook PC does this all the time... I can hear it "thinking" through the speakers or headphones.... it actually goes away though when running on battery instead of wall AC
