onboard sound with internal connector and a pci sound card

I have a tv-capture card on my pc.
it has an internal connector for the sound, and an external one
can i listen to it with my pci sound card if it is plugged into internal connector on the mobo?
i can listen to it if i have both sound cards enabled, but my speakers must be plugged into the mobo sound, not the pci one
or do i have to use the external connector and plug it into the line in?

Could you drop us some links to your specific capture card and motherboard (preferably manufacturer links, newegg or equivalent in a pinch). It is hard to guess just from the data here what sort of kit we are dealing with here.
