onboard sound stopped working

On my "old" computer I noticed that the sound stopped working some time in the past two weeks. I figured the speakers were disconnected some how. I found that they were still connected. I tried multiple speakers and headphones with no luck. The OS still thinks the card is there, winamp will play as if nothing happened, there just is no sound.
There have been no major changes made to the OS or hardware on this computer since it stopped working.
This system is about 2.5 years old, MB is ABIT NF7 w/Athlon XP 3000, 1GB ram.
Any thoughts?

Well, did you check all of your volume controls to make sure none of them were muted?
Otherwise maybe reinstall the drivers, or do a system restore if it's worth the trouble.
