Onboard sound question

I have a K8N Neo2 Platinum motherboard that has a plug for my front audio and mic jacks on my case, the prewired cable and plug fits right in the MB plug just like it is supposed to!!

Here is my question, if I disable my onboard sound does it in fact render the plug on my motherboard specifically made for the front panel audio jacks on a case useless? Hope that makes sense, lol

It would make sense that if you disable the on-board audio in the bios, that would also disable the motherboard sound output.

yeah, the ports are coming from the onboard sound chip.

an add-in soundcard may have the connections necessary to plug in a front panel audio port though.

Well I got a Lian Li case and picked the one with the front audio jacks for convenience, I have a Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS and it doesn't have the hook up for front ports, guess I should have researched better :disgust:
