Onboard sound MIC input not working...

I just put together a computer (amd 1700+) and everything is working out okay except for the mic input on the onboard sound. It justdoesnt reconize when I talk / doesn't pick up a signal.

I was wondering if I bought a sound card ...say Xgamer or something on that level if it could over-ride the onboard sound.....or am I stuck w. it?

If you bought another sound card you will probably be able to disable on board sound in the bios.

Double click the sound icon in the lower right corner. brings up the sound properties, click options properties click recording click ok make sure the mic input is selected.

Good Luck
