Onboard SB750 Raid 5 performance.

I have a 4TB Raid5 setup with my SB750 chip set. I was writing a 4gb file from a separate (non raid) hard drive to the raid drive and it started to write at 65 MB/s for about 10 seconds and then it started to slow down to 19MB/s. Is this normal?

I know on-board raid performance isn't as good as a dedicated card, but why isn't the write speed either a constant 19MB/s or a 65MB/s ?
