Onboard Realtek ALC882 Audio Issues

I recently got a Shuttle SN27P2 SFF PC and am trying to get it up and running. So far so good except when I go to play Battlefield 2, if EAX is enabled (in BF2) then all the sounds are super amplified. If I disable EAX then all sounds good, except many of the sounds are broken up. Verbal commands get choppy.

It is the Realtek ALC882. Anyone else use this onboard audio on a Shuttle or other platform successfully with Battlefield 2?

Why not just turn down the volume with EAX enabled? You have the latest drivers? Does it happen with any other EAX games?

Does Creative or anybody else make an EAX test program, something that just plays sample sounds?

Thanks for the reply.

It's not that simple. I can hear EVERYTHING amplified. I had to bump to "software" mode as I found it is an issue with BF2. Sounds pretty decent, but I will have to trial it with a few other games to make sure.

Lol.. I just posted about my new SN27P2 build. Hopefully that's the only problem you're having. I actually decided to go with a 7600GT instead of 7900 because of some of the problems I saw you were having on Sudhian... plus it cost a ton less. If I try out BF2 I'll remember to stick my Audigy 2 in.

I found out that BF2 has issues with non X-fi cards if you select hardware. I selected software audio with EAX and all is well. Granted software isn't the best solution, but it seems to be working fine.
