I get crackling sounds if i start playing a game like battlefield 2142 or like sometimes it'll start crackling when i stream music is there anything i could do to fix this?
-thanks

I hear a short crackle with this board when a sound plays in windows. I never hear it in games or music though.

When I mentioned this problem to Gigabyte, they suggested I update the drivers. I haven't done that yet.

Updating your drivers when in trouble is always a good idea. However, if you've used the drivers provided by GB you don't have the latest. It is known that GB does not test all drivers released by Realtek.
If that's the case I suggest that you download the latest HD audio drivers straight from Realtek's site (ver R2.10 - 12/01/2008) -> http://www.realtek.com/downloa...TypeID=3&GetDown=false
Realtek's drivers have always worked for me without any problems.

I updated the driver on the realtek site but it still gives me static on battlefield 2142 and sometimes randomly when im streaming videos.

Chances are that the onboard audio chip is picking up static generated by another device inside the case. You may want to try unplugging all hardware that isn't needed to boot the computer. Could be also byproduct of strong airflow going past the audio chip. BIOS update may also solve the issue, as there has been DPC latency issues with some Intel chipset based boards and it may also cause crackling.

The keeper is right about interference from other equipment and high DPC latencies. Both can cause serious audio problems. You can use the DPC latency checker utility to find out whether you have high latencies. If so, and regardless of whether this is to blame for your audio problems, you should have a look at it. In the past I did experienced similar audio problems to yours. My mobo has the ALC888 audio codec and the problems were caused by high DPC latencies. After looking to it I discovered that this was caused by nV?s Forceware drivers. I?ve started updating nV?s drivers and 2 betas later everything was ok.

The odd thing for me is I hear the sound and I'm using digital output. I figured any crackling would not be present in a wholly digital path.

well so far I updated every single one of my drivers: graphics, audio, network drivers and it seems to be working for everything no more crackling but ill see if the crackling starts again. I think one of those drivers were conflicting with the audio driver for some reason.

Ugg I still get the crackling after a day of no crackling it came back when i opened battlefield 2142 i have no idea whats going on, this shouldn't happen

when i use dpc latency checker utility it said that my avg latency is around 611us i assume its not good it still crackles every time i play battlefioeld 2142 or randomly when i stream something lol?

well it was a clean install once i got my new computer i had to reinstall windows and everything so that wouldn't do anything i dun believe, its in the green almost everytime except it goes in the yellow likes once every like 20 bars.

The bars go in the yellow if i put a stress application on like battlefield 2142 though.
