Does anyone have any info/specs regarding the performance/bandwidth available to a RAID controller chip from an onboard or PCI card arrangement to the North Bridge?

Since onboard chips are also attached to the PCI bus the difference, if any, would be minimal.

Cost mainly for your home brew garden variety, there are some "professional" RAID controllers but you would want to go SCSI if you went pro.
