Onboard Promise Raid - slow boot

I have a Gigabyte 7VAXP motherboard w/onboard promise raid. I was using two 40G Maxtor740X-6L hard drives and recently upgraded to two 80G Western Digital 8mb SE drives. The drives work just fine. In fact great. Now when I bootup and get to the Raid bios screen, I can count about 25 dots............................... when it is detecting the ide devices. With the Maxtors it would count only about 5 dots. This is a little annoying and I would like to know if there is a way to set the bios to recognize the drives more quickly. I know that you can manually put settings into the motherboard bios but am not sure if it can be done with the raid bios.

I don't know if there is a way around that, I have a Promise onboard raid that I use too. I have noticed that larger drives= much longer boot time!

If you have all the settings correct in the bios (boot order/ boot from onboard raid controller or scsi depending from bios version) I think that's about it.
