i get wired internet on my laptop... but when i put the cat53 cable into my desktop NIC i dont get anything. says cable is unplugged

i tried unplugging the router and modem and replugging and rtestarting the computer. tried using different cat5e cable. tried different ports in router. should i just get a new card?

i even tried updatin drivers.

the nic used to work... i had it plugged in about 6 months ago and just took the computer out of storage

Unplug the network cable, clean it and plug it back it. If no lights come on, try jiggling it, or try another cable, try another port on the router. Dont waste a whole lot of time if it doesnt work. Disable it in device manager and install a new NIC. In Florida lightning strikes coming in thru the coaxial cable routinely zap cable modems/routers/onboard nics - I have lost many devices this way, till I invested in surge suppressor with protection for the coax cable connection.
