Onboard Memory Controller vs Bad Ram???

I just picked up some G.Skill HZ, which many have reported hits 270-280+, mine is topping out under 270. Running DFI NF4 Ultra with 704-2bt bios, stock settings 2.64 volts on the ram.
I have tried numerous bios settings, yellow sticks vs orange, lots of different stuff for the last week and a half.

My question is this... is there a way to determine if my 3200+ Venice is just crapping out at such might speeds, and to test if the ram is good at higher speeds?

I have done all my testing with the CPU on a lower multiplier, but still 1:1 speeds. If i run the ram at a divider, but higher than the CPU speed will that be sufficient to determine if the memory controller is pooping out vs just an unlucky pair of ram?

Take the RAM in 1:1 up to the speed where you start getting flaky. Take it a bit beyond that point and loosen up all the RAM timings all the way. Remember to set RAM timings manually and NOT let the mommaboard do anything automatically. If after loosening up the timings it runs stable again, it's the RAM. If not, it's something else.

nm found it

Seems to be ddr500 for a 250 mhz bus

Have you tried uping the voltage?
try 2.7 or 2.8?

I have already done the usual tweaking and singling out individual components, also tried voltage.

I guess my question is more academic... my A64 tops out around 2700mhz, any faster and I have to start cranking up the voltage REALLY high. 1.55-1.6+ and i cant even guarantee its stability. Therefore I have a feeling that it might be my onboard memory controller pooping out at 270mhz, but I am not sure. If i set my ram at a higher divider (love my DFI mobo and custom bios) would that be sufficient to determine if my ram is stable at a higher speed.

For instance say my A64 tops out at 265mhz, but my ram is good at 280mhz. If i run a 250mhz divider and run my HTT @ 245/9 i should get a CPU clock of 2450mhz, ram of 272mhz (then slowly crank up the HTT). Would that be a method I can use? Reason i ask is im not sure if that will stress the ram enough and I have finals and dont have the time this week to spend all day tweaking and testing. :(
