Onboard Lan Not Working

Replaced old mobo with Asus P4P800-E Deluxe. Dual booting XP Pro sp2 and Xandros distro of linux. Onboard lan works fine in Linux as this message is coming to you courtesy of same.

However, can't get windows to work. Installed all drivers, etc. from support CD. Message given is 'nework cable unplugged'. Of course it isn't.

Has anyone used this board and experienced the same issue? How was the problem solved, if at all?

BTW, twice contacted Asus tech support with no help.

Other sys components are P4 3.2e Prescott, 160 Gb HD, Plextor 716a DVD+RW, Plextor CD+RW, fdd, Antec Sonata case w/380w true power PSU.
