Did some upgrades on my server, using my old mobo from my desktop years ago. the mobo is a Gigabyte GA-7VAXP (non ultra) revision 1 mobo....

in any case...i dont have drivers specifically for it...but the problem seems more hardware related. there is no option to enable it in the BIOS, as well as no jumper on the mobo. It worked when i tested it a few days ago...and i figure i just gotta post and see if thers something obvious i've forgotten.

Device manager does not detect it, could it be that i have too many PCI cards in, and it just decides not to give priority to the onboard devices? I figured it'd give priority to those first. this board has onboard raid, using it just as an ata controller, and i've got a gigabit fiber card in it, and a wifi card...plus my Diamond Monster Fusion 16MB!!!!! w00t.

heh anyways, suggestions?

you need to get the device drives specific to the motherboard and load them. various devices stuffed into todays motherboards didn't exist when win2000 came out. you must have the drivers and load them for the operating system to even know you have these items. i hope this helps..

here is a link to the drivers

I do have these drivers, but even when installed there is nothing for them to "drive" The problem is not software, it is not even assigning it an interrupt as the device seems to be disabled somehow.

in addition tothat, this motherboard was out a long time before win2k3, even if it was out after the OS it doesnt matter, it should still detect a device is present even if it doesnt know what it is.

download the user manual for the motherboard.

there must be a way to enable/disable features in the bios
