Onboard LAN & Linux/BSD

I'm debating between the Shuttle AK31A and the Epox 8KHA+ motherboards for my new system. While the system will mostly use Windows XP since its for gaming, I try to get compatibility with Linux/BSD at the same time. Right now I'm leaning towards the AK31A (despite the atrocious color they made it, does anyone else miss the standard green?) because I don't see Epox offering $25 in increased performance, but I need to know if the onboard LAN port on the Shuttle will be compatible with Linux/BSD. If anyone could help with this I'd appreciate it greatly.
