Onboard lan download speeds slowe then pci lan card

Hello all, first time poster long time reader. I just recently built a new computer with the following specs:

AMD 2800+ xp
shuttle an35n ultra
1gb ram
seagate 80gb hd
radeon 9800 pro

When downloading i noticed that my speeds were drastically slower then on my other computer with a pci lan card. On that computer i would get 380 kb/s, however on this new computer with the onboard lan i am getting above 200 barely. I disabled firewalls, and changed the settings in the network card for max throughput but no luck. Would it be better to put a seperate pci lan card in there instead of the onboard one?
thanks for the help

If you haven't already done so, check Shuttle's BIOS and driver update page for your board and check nVidia for info about the latest drivers for your chipset. This board uses a Realtek 8201BL LAN chip, so you may want to check that our further, as well.

Also, check for IRQ confilcts with other items in your system.

Good luck. 🙂

check your network configuration too,

how do both the computers connect, is your cabling quality questionable? does one computers cable run parrelel to power lines or any other possible interference?

I use the same cable for both computers and they are right next to each other.

By checking the network configuration do you mean in device manager? I checked the card in there and set it to max throughput but that didnt seem to help.
