Onboard Audio with ABIT IC7 Vs. SB Live Original - Which is 'Better'

thatsright

Will soon have ABIT IC7 MB. But I also have the SoundBlaster Live Original card with the Digital I/O Riser Card. Do you think it would be better to go with onboard audio on the IC7, or just use the SB Live from my old system? My PC is right next to my Home Theater Receiver, so PC Desk speakers aren't really that Important.

Anyone know if the IC7 has 5.1 channel output?

I want to hook either my SB Live or MB audio optical output into my Dolby Digital Home Theater Receiver. But lets say I'm watching a DVD in my DVD-Rom drive, and it has Dolby Digital output sound; what if it goes thru my SB Live optical out, would it then be played on my Receiver in Dolby Digital Surround, or does the Sound Card have to support Dolby Digital 5.1 output? But does this matter if my receiver can already decode Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound?

Can anyone help me out?

I'm going with the onboard sound; my own SBLive! will stay in my old rig. According to various reviews audio is excellent in the IC7!

6-channel output: rear-left,rear-right, center/subwoofer,front-left,front-right connectors
(aside from mic&line in and S/PDIF in&out).

I still have to rustle up a CPU somewhere so haven't used it myself yet...
