Onboard Audio vs Audigy Gamer

I have a neo 2 with the AC97 7.1 audio on board. I also have an audigy gamer from my last system. Do I want to disabled ac97 and use the card, or ditch the card and use the onboard audio? Surround sound is not an issue for me at this point. I am mainly interested in the effects on performance either situation would have. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Audigy will be much better as the onboard doesn't have an APU and goes straight to the CPU. Also quality will be much better.

I tried just running the on board sound to see how it would affect my performance, and man did my performance suffer in games. Lots of choppines, stuttering and lag, went back real quick to my audigy gamer.
