Onboard audio makes sounds when I do stuff

First of all here is my system

Xp2500 barton
512mb ddr2700
geforce2 mx400
Dfi nfii mobo

I use the onboard audio with this board. The problem is when I have my volume too loud I can here what I am doing. Like when I move my mouse and such it makes noises. Not loud ones but it is still annoying (especially with headphones). I had this problem before on my old ecs k7s5a. I was told it was an IRQ problem. So instead of fixing it I just bought a sound blaster instead (since the quality sucked so bad on that board anyway). Does anybody know how to fix this. I hate hearing the something that resembles a modem everytime I move my mouse. 🙁

I used to have that same problem on my NF7-S R2 but the second to the latest BIOS update fixed that for me somehow. Have you updated your BIOS to the latest version available?

Nope I am off to do that right now. thks

Its possible that a BIOS update will fix it and its a software issue. But on many motherboard it's more likely that it uses the cheapest, lowest quality, POS, Digital to Analog convertors and that's causing the static.

No, and someone else recomended me to shut down acpi in the bios. But when I did that windows wouldnt load.

Could be the onboard chip. I had those symptoms when I had a $10 crap sound card in my system for a while. My other two sound cards when placed in the same slot did not exhibit the behaviour. Borrow someone's (quality) sound card, disable your onboard sound and see if the problem persists. I'm betting it won't 🙂

Bah, its not that big of a deal. The bios seemed to help it not fix it, oh well.

Is your SB chip cooled? I noticed waaay back last winter with my 8RDA+ that my sound problems in games vanished when I passively cooled the SB chip. When I got my NF7-S the first thing I did was to redo the chipset cooling on the board (both the NB and SB).

Sorry the first suggestion didn't work out, maybe the second will. 😱

I had the same issue on an Abit board I just got a couple of months ago. I went and ordered an Audigy 2, and that took care of it. Not the best solution, but according to the abit forums it was a board design issue, and nothing else would work. Did you check the forums or support for your mobo's maker, you might find a solution or fix there.
