Onboard and gfx card combo = my nightmare

So here is the setup:

Phenom 965
Asus m4a88t- evo3/usb
xfx 5830 1gb

I like to use the onboard video with the gfx card so I can hook up more screens. I have the bios set so that the onboard is primary. That allows windows to see both cards and use them concurrently. This is working perfectly when I use the wdm drivers. But when I go to install the updated drivers from amd's site windows is literally getting confused about which card is which and ends up disabling my 5830. Once I try to remove the 5830s drivers it puts my onboard monitor back to "stand video driver" mode. Basically windows is confused and cant seem to install it for the correct card. I have used all the tricks up my sleeve. I have manually pointed each card to asus drivers and wdm in almost every possible way. My question is how can I make windows act like it has never ever seen any of these gfx so that I can attempt to install the drivers correctly.

Disable the onboard graphics card, and hook up all your monitors to the 5830.
That should fix everything.

Also, try doing this in stages, one video card at a time.

Uninstall the video card drivers, then remove the 5830 physically from your machine. Reboot the machine, and install the video card drivers only when the on-board video is active. The on-board should work. Turn off the computer, and then physically install the 5830 card into the machine, and see if it's recognized when you boot into windows.

Oh also a question: what exactly setting are you using in the BIOS? Perhaps that has something to do with the issue, maybe it's somehow set to only use on-board and messes up recognition of anything else, maybe there is a way to set it to use on-board video in addition to anything else.
