I don't think so. It's what you do with stereotypes that matters, I think. The human brain evolved in part as a pattern recognizing machine. It's good to have a stereotype of tigers handy so as to distinguish one from miscellaneous data, no? It is quite important, also, to know the faces of friends so you don't go off with a child molester, say, but it would be insane to think that all strangers are evil. It seems to me that it is the judgment values we make, and are taught to make, that is the source of hate, not the actual data we use to identify an appropriate, or in this case, inappropriate object to hate.
