On the juice

Any of you running nitrous in your car or bike? I'm thinking about adding a 40 HP shot to my V-Rod just for shits and grins. I have the perfect place to hang two bottles, and the kits are pretty cheap. But a couple fellows have told me that once your on the juice, you can't stop, you get addicted to horsepower and up spending a fortune on nitrous. Tell me why I shouldn't do this.

For the record: I don't race, street or strip, and I'm not into excessive speed. But I do enjoy bouncing off the rev limiter when getting on the freeway and such.

If you lay it down it goes kaboom? Worst case issue it goes kaboom with you on it? That was the first thing to come to mind. :sneaky:

No I haven't heard about anyone doing it or thinking about doing it since high school.

Although if you are thinking about getting nitrous for freeway on ramps maybe that age range makes sense..

I run it in my daily driver. Bottle is only hooked up when I'm at the track though. Safe as anything else in the car.

It's come a long way in the last 40 years. More so in the last 10. Run it, enjoy it and be safe.

It's a pretty common mod. Inexpensive, simple instillation.
While I agree it isn't sensible thing to do, it's a fun thing to do. If you've never enjoyed really fast acceleration you'll never get it. 99.9% of my driving is done old man style, every once in a great while I enjoy an Adrenalin rush.

It's ok to have fun.

Running a low budget nitrous outlet setup on a 2003 mustang gt. Previously ran the same setup on a couple crown vics. I think it's cheap to run as I usually only use it at the track. I've had alot of fun with it and got my feet wet at drag racing.

The tuning can be a bit tricky if you try to go for high HP numbers. Blew an old donor crown vic out with a 125 shot on a high 11 sec pass. We were intentionally trying to hurt/kill it and after a few 100 shots with nice 12 sec timeslips we got a bit greedy.

The knowledge helped be properly tune my mustang. I usually go to the strip a couple times each year to get my speed fix.

Yup, plenty of car guys like to do nitrous in certain situations. Nothing wrong or "juvenile" about it. Most high schoolers can't afford to mod their cars.

It's ok to have fun.

This.

Assuming the OP does it 'right' it can be a lot of fun, cost-effective and safe.
