Must we be loyal to one country, or shan't we spread our love across 2 borders or the Atlantic?

Dual Citizenship is mainly used for tax and work purposes and doesn't affect loyalty in anyway.

I don't give a shit. I just don't want your dirty filthy lazy culture brought here. If that happens, you can DIAF. If that doesn't happen, welcome to the USA!

I am a dual citizen. I can work anywhere in the EU, no questions asked. I also discriminate against those dirty single citzens. Blegh, I hate them.

I was gonna be offended by this comment, but then I realized you were only Canadian. :p

My old roommate was a dual US/UK citizen. Just thought it was funny that the UK passport called him a "subject" of her royal majesty. Dual citizenship is pretty cool to have IMO.

Edit: fixed spelling

I agree. Except I think your closed-minded ignorance is the "dirty filthy lazy culture" I'd like to get rid of.

So get an education, and welcome to the USA!

I am American and was born here. But I have a french passport. That means I can get a job there without a visa, buy land anywhere in europe, go to school for free in france, get french medical care when I decide to have children, etc. And when I travel in Europe, I can waltz through customs like nobody's business. Not a bad deal if you ask me. Options are good.

If you want to come live here permanently, I would prefer that you think of yourself as an American or even a _____-American, not a _____ who lives in the US. I would also prefer someone who intends to stay here for the rest of their life and raise their family here.

No, countries are in alphabetical order. It's two down from America. Duh :p

As for dual citizenship, I would imagine that it would affect your ability to get certain jobs (government, government contractor, etc). Also, you might have to enlist in the military in one of them.

I'm curious as to why, on both your preferences?

Because I think the country is better off with people who want to be a part of it. This is one of the most prosperous countries in the world, thanks in part to people who came here and stayed. We are a nation of immigrants, not a nation of passers-through.

I am neither close-minded nor ignorant, but thanks for playing! :p I don't have anything against other cultures melting in and adding to our own. I do, however, object to sub-cultures that bring violence, crime, drugs, filth, despair, disrespect, annoyance, and other generally unacceptable aspects. Point your finger all you want, though, if it makes you feel better.
