Why you never saw any reference to popular bands/music?

I mean, you would think that far in the future they would have some interesting sounds from multiple worlds...but we saw none of that. It seems no one listened to anything but early earth classical music..

😕

Edit: I mean popular bands/music of the time..from any of the hundreds of planets..

Someone accidentally started singing "My Humps" shortly after first contact with the Vulcans. They not only threatened to cut off all external assistance, but they also called in a fleet of warships to sterilize the planet.
Earth's governments agreed to never again speak of the "American Idol Era" as it was called.

In one episode they were doing a funeral for Geordi (who wasn't actually dead, of course, just out of phase) and they were playing jazz. First Contact had Steppenwolf's Magic Carpet Ride playing during the launch scene, but Riker and Geordi were looking pretty uncomfortable with it.

umm, you gotta remember when the tv shows were made... most of the more recent stuff didn't exist yet. plus they were on a budget and putting songs in would cost them $$

If you piss into a toilet on the holdeck, what happens to your urine when you end the program

Huh! HUH! Answer me that.

Idea for a prank:
As someone is teleporting out for some important diplomatic mission, add in some high-strength laxative to their stomach as they're in transport.

Or else just put a lot of saline solution into their bladder so that they immediately need to find a bathroom.

Heh, yeah.. that's an interesting thought.

That adds a whole other element of complexity though. It wouldn't be easy to write music that sounds different and/or futuristic.
