I think it has more to do with that in today's society, there's no such thing as an innocent man when it comes to young women. Every man in her vicinity, mother's boyfriend, brother if there was one, any male friends she had associated with commonly, were all probably made immediate suspects simply for their association with her.
As for the article, I think it is sad that they keep her from seeing the child. Yes she is horribly young, and I don't know how she feels about it, but it is still *her* baby, and she never did anything wrong it doesn't appear. If she wants to, I feel she should be allowed to see her child.
I think what sickens me almost as much as the crime itself, was reading this:

IMHO, the following need to happen:
1. Put the girl and her baby in a good home, where they might actually learn some morals & values. Obviously, this hasn't been a high priority in the raising of this child before now.
2. Put the girl's mother in prison for a very long time. It sure seems that she was a major contributing factor to what has happened, and didn't even care enough to follow a simple rule set down for her.
3. Put the baby's father in prison, general population. Then let it be known he's there for rape, and how old the victim was. I'll be amazed if he lasts through his first year there.....and good riddance to bad garbage when someone shanks his ass! :|

At 11, she has no business being a mother. She might be able to be a mother of some sort but how is she going to provide for her? How is she going to teach her about life and the tribulations that follow? She hasn't had enough life experiences to fully teach this child about growing up when she hasn't even grown up herself. Even though it's heartbreaking, I'm sure, for the baby to be taken away, but I believe it's the right choice.
Man that's messed up. They could be put under foster care and raised like siblings I guess, they're well within normal age difference for that, but the older girl would always know the truth. I wouldn't want them separated though.

You don't understand your own laws.
17 is the age of consent. Age of consent has to do with anything goes. For minors the age is 14 with the other partner being within 3 years of the age of the other.
so you could have an 11 and 14 year old hook up and have a baby in your state.

I say child services needs to remove the kids from their current household (to hell with their mom, the adult one)....While I certainly wouldn't advocate separating the newborn and its young mother, I think they'll need to be helped and watched very closely. If that little girl grew up in such an abusive environment, I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up being an abuser herself.
