I finally have replaced my DFI NF3 + AMD64 3000+ combination though not a total rehaul of the system

New Specs:

C2D E4400
2GB of Value PC3200 DDR
6800 Ultra
Asrock 4Core VSTA

It has been very rock stable with no issues. I tried overclocking for the first time today after researching the dividers for the motherboard

Currently and most likely to stay at settings: (I have ran Prime95 for 3+ hours today but plan on running it all night later)

266 FSB
Defualt Vcore
Memory at 199 (4/3 divider)
2.66 Ghz

Stock Intel HSF, I need a recommendation for a cheap but better HSF please! Idle temps for stock speeds are in the mid 40s and load just below 60. With the mild overclock, load temps using Prime 95 jump to mid to high 60s. Eek

Cheers, I know it isn't much of an overclock but it was a big upgrade to me.

nice :)

strange, the days when a 33% overclock is considered "mild" :p

anyways, i recommend a scythe ninja with a thermalright backplate :p bout 40 bucks, done and done.

i have an e4400, it runs at about 58 under full load, at 2.7 ghz. (ambient air that's feeding it is probably around 34~

Finally convinced myself to order the Arctic freezer 7 pro after newegg dropped their price $15 :D

Now I am thinking of seeing what this E4400 can really push at stock voltage. What I have read from OCing with the ASrock is it top outs around 290FSB and 2.9Ghz doesn't seem to far fetch however with a 290 FSB I am going to have to run a divider of 8:5 to give me a DDR Speed of 362.5 (181.25mhz). The 4/3 Divider would put me at 217.5Mhz and I just don't seem my value ram touching that.

So I have these opitions

266 FSB, Memory at 199 ~DDR400 (4/3) @ 2.6Ghz
280 FSB, Memory at 210 ~DDR420 (4/3) @ 2.8Ghz (May not work)
290 FSB, Memory at 181 ~DDR362 (8/5) @ 2.9Ghz
300 FSB, Memory at 187 ~DDR374 (8/5) @ 3.0Ghz (May not work)

Hmm?

I have both of those, ha ha, although I have only tried the Ultra-90 with the recommended Panaflo fan (I will try both on a Q6600 later). Nice little cooler; it let me run my E6600 @ 3.0GHz @ 1.3v BIOS/1.28v two to four degrees cooler than the same CPU @ 2.4GHz @ 1.21v BIOS/1.19v on the stock cooler. Don't expect miracles out of it, though; it's no Ultra-120.

Curious but does the Arctic Freezer 7 Pro or Ultra-90...require you to remove the mobo to put a plate or something behind it......???

ac freezer 7 pro requires it. I managed to do it once without removing mobo but it was tough.

Still on stock HSF but the overclock at 266 FSB, Memory at 199 ~DDR400 (4/3) @ 2.6Ghz is stable. Temperatures, yes high under load, mid 60Cs

But a bump for what OC I should settle for

Love this Freezer 7 Pro, wow!

Temperatures dropped 10 to 15C both idle and load

Stock HSF

Idle Temps, ~45C
Load Temps, ~60C (2.6Ghz ~67C)

AF7Pro

Idle Temps, ~35C
Load Temps, ~44C (2.8Ghz ~50C)

Motherboard has a wall at 290FSB so no 3Ghz. I tested 290FSB with memory at 181 lastnight but PC restarted during the night sometime so it isn't stable. I am testing right now at 2.8Ghz with a 280FSB and memory at 210

:)

Just ordered 4GB of DDR2-800!

Does the memory/FSB dividers hold the same for DDR2?
