ZipZoomFly has a similar deal with more specs listed on their site: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/...p?ProductCode=10009286

EDIT: They also have the black version: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/...p?ProductCode=10009287

And they have the one preloaded with Windows XP for $20 extra vs. $30 extra from Toys "R" Us, but it's not in stock: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/...p?ProductCode=10010513

At the same time, though, for $180 you can get a much nicer model with an 8.9" screen, higher resolution, faster CPU, more RAM... only disadvantage seems to be less storage.

Man so tempting. I was thinking of buying a portable dvd player for the kids to use in the car. I admit, I haven't really done any research yet so I'm not sure whats available and the options. But my trip to target yesterday showed me mainly $100 to $240 price range (althought the $200+ models were two packs). I'm thinking of getting these instead which are more useful, and I can put games for the kids on it as well. Also these can play wmv/avi etc. whereas the portable dvd players cant (or it didn't seem like they could). I'm assuming that these are powerful enough to play dvds/videos, but probably not HD content (which doesn't matter at this resolution/size).

Hmm....

8GB is not really enough space to load ISO over onto, perhaps some really low quality MPEG rips. And no DVD drive make it less than ideal for what you're looking for.

Yeah, I realized that an hour after I posted. Only 8gb. hmm, I think they come with an SD slot though. I'm thinking of just getting a cheap normal laptop. Its more versatile. (and sorry for stealing the thread).

Ahhhh hahah on the ZZF site for product description of the 8.9" model:

8.9" screen does not affect the overall weight of the Eee PC? 900A, which remains below 1kg ? allowing children and women to carry it with ease.

Dammit JS, your title says "notebook", while the product description says "netbook". I was hoping that this wasn't an atom-powered unit. :(

Oh, ok. Sorry JS, guess I'll let this one slide. I automatically associate "netbook" with "Atom".

At the resolution, you don't even need ISO'd movies. Just convert them into lower resolution AVI rips (300-400mb) and stash them onto small SD cards and voila!

The movies would be for the kids anyway. They don't know the difference.

I have an EeePC 900 (Celeron 900, 8.9", 2GB DDR2, 4GB SSHDD, 8GB SD card) and its an awesome little machine.
